Our family has grown!
Here is a picture of our family, including our two oldest daughters that are married with their husbands and children. This picture was taken in the summer of 2012. All of our family, that is still at home, is busy in one form or another helping out. Some more and some less! Even our youngest son, loves to help put the eggs on flats after they have been washed! |
Some background history of our farming venture:
We originally only had a dairy farm, although we have sold free range eggs for many years from our farm gate. When our 3 oldest sons became older they all said they liked farming. In order to make that possible we realized we would have to diversify. So, about 5 years ago, we started raising free range chickens. Our son, Willard, mainly took care of them at first. First, we sold those to family and through word of mouth we were able to start selling more. About the same time, Willard also started raising Canadian Arcott sheep. In 2011 we decided we were going to take it a step further and start selling grass fed beef, lamb, chicken and turkey at the Lethbridge Farmer's Market. We also, started keeping more laying hens in order to keep up with demand at the Farmer's Market. In 2011, we also made a decision to start using certified organic grains to raise our chickens and turkeys and laying hens. We did not want to feed our animals GMO (genetically modified organisms) grain anymore! We really believe we are what we eat! We especially want to thank all of our customers that buy our products! We want you to know that you are helping the small local farm to continue to survive into the next generation! |
